Real progress

It has been many months of waiting (and has felt like years), but at last our garden is beginning to take shape.

We have made so much progress in the last month. Uncle John finally returned to flatten the garden, we have a new driveway...

...a patio (now housing the sandpit from Tim and Christine's),

Mark has power harrowed the ground, and with the help of Mr and Mrs Burgess senior and Ron, we have raked the ground over, sown grass seed and rolled it in.

And today I planted this little row of box which brought me much joy.

You can't beat home grown

The courgettes are slowing down a bit, but the beans are only just beginning. I am very proud of my carrots - even Ron is impressed.

Borage

I am longing for the garden to be flattened so that the planting can begin, but in the meantime this little clump of borage is providing a welcome splash of colour in the otherwise sad and very empty garden.

Lavender

After a trip to Downderry today, I have chosen two lavenders for the garden. Both have beautiful silvery foliage. This one, 'Sawyers', is the one grown at Greenacre and I love the large flower heads.

The other is a later flowering, paler lavender.
